Slender Winter Edition

You are lost in a deep forest ... again, with that strange feeling of being watched? Who knows, maybe that's not just a feeling. Maybe out there is a faceless tall pale creature, hiding behind the trees, waiting for you to come along, for the last time, probably. Some people are never to be found, no matter how hard others try to find them. Once they disappear, they never show up again. Like they have vanished from the face of the Earth. Slender-man might be the answer to this, at least, in same cases.

What appears to be a child's play, such as this collecting of balls, scattered all over the woods, in this cold winter's night - turned into a dangerous game of life and death. You still need to collect those balls, but try do it in a timely manner and quietly. You don't want to wake up the monster, right. And if you do .. run. Just run and don't look back. This time we play SlenderMan:Winter Edition;

Controls

Controls are pretty basic, which is good. I like games with simple and straightforward controls. WASD is for walking, and in case you need to run, there's a shift button. Although, the idea is that you can't go and run all the time, it kinda wears out after a while. Something like you ran out of gas. Anyway, running will be possible if used moderately, from time to time, when needed. You can also jump, which is not very common feature for Slender games. Mouse is used for looking around in all directions. Strangely, they didn't mention the usage of famous flashlight which is as usual triggered by the 'f' key.

Time challenge versus Survival mode

There are two modes you can play the game in. First is called 'time challenge', which is about finding all 6 balls as fast as possible (like that's not the idea of any mode). In survival mode, there is no time limit. You keep on collecting balls until Slendy gets you and this is where the fun ends. In the end, all you can do is to count the balls and see how well you did. The more balls, the better. Allegedly, with each ball you find, Slender-man gets more angry, moves faster, overall he acts more aggressively, which in turn of course, decreases your chances for survival.

Winter Edition on Amazon?

Believe it or not, this edition made it's way to the Amazon. User Riba+ uploaded this game there to be downloaded for free. Actually this version is for android and is absolutely identical to this 'Unity' version you get to play on darkhorrorgames.com. Despite the fact that unity file is almost 4 times smaller in size (9MB comparing to android version 32MB) than android file, the quality is the same. If you still prefer to try this on your mobile device, I won't stop you, and here's the link: (edit: it was removed by google)

Hands on

The game has been obviously dedicated to New Year's and Christmas holidays, so maybe this is not the best timing to publish it on darkhorrorgames.com. But, despite all that, I'll give it a go. Playing versus Slender-man is always fun. Once you meet him, you will realize that he's wearing Santa's hat, which might slightly damage the image of horror you have for this creature. Also, the developer might want to increase the walking speed in this game. And one could also use a map. Aside a few minor glitches and oversights, this is a good game with decent 3D graphics, but not that scary. What do you say?
