Your job as a paranormal investigator in this game is to find hidden voodoo dolls inside the house, which were held responsible for the deaths of the Bastien family.
Other evidence (ghosts) if found should be photographed and documented. Find all 5 dolls and the curse will be broken. This game belongs to the horror genre but it is not too scary because it is mostly played from the birds perspective, meaning from above, but if it were made as a first-person game, it would be much more scary.
Gameplay
The story is inspired by the events in New Orleans from the end of the 19th century. On a big plantation down south a long time ago lived Armand Bastien with his wife, 4 children and 3 slaves. Allegedly slaves used magic to cause a tragic death of every last member of his family, today known as The Bastien Curse. Slaves were charged of witchcraft and burned alive. Armand had returned to the house after these events but nobody has ever seen him since. More details about the story can be read here http://thebastiencurse.wordpress.com/.
In the picture at the beginning of the game you can see the photograph of Henry Rogers, a paranormal researcher who worked on the case couple of decades ago. In an attempt to answer some of many questions surrounding this mystery he had become apart of it because since Halloween in 1993 every trace of him is lost.
Controls
There are 2 possible views while you play the game: top view or first person view.
- Click the mouse to move in a desired direction
- Click the mouse and drag to look around
- Mouse click to pick items when in first person view
- Mouse click to take picture of ghosts

The game has been developed by Rex Cartagena, an experienced indie game developer from California. He worked for Zynga and redpatchgames.com. Secret Of Mystery House 1 & 2 were published under RedPatch flag back in the day.

I actually enjoyed this game. I found it a bit hard to remember which rooms I had been in but it was a a basic but good mystery game. Would recommend it to a friend.

This game was very fun, played with a mate together on separate PC's, but it was easier having someone go through it with you, very good game, giving it a 4 star only because on my mate's PC, she had a difficult time, she has an older machine, and had a hard time keeping up.

Interesting setup, the first person environments are very well done, and the recordings are a nice touch. A little bit on the dull side though, and the top-down level design is exceedingly lazy. Had to wrestle for a few minutes on whether to give it a 3 or a 4, and sadly settled on a 3. I think they could have added a better sense of danger while exploring to liven it up a bit.

It has losts of potential, I never saw a ghost however, and its had too keep your way though the map does help quite a bit. 4 stars since there are some points that could be better but I won't look a gifted horse in the mouth
