1. If you just want to download/install/play, you can skip all this by scrolling down to step 10.

2.Who is after you?

Four animatronics (robo mascots): Bonnie the bunny, Chica the chicken, Foxy the pirate fox, and the Freddy Fazbear.

3. Why?

Because they don't recognize you at night and because the rule says that everybody should be in their animal costumes - and you're not.

4. What are they going to do to you?

Well, they're not going to offer you a pizza. It is very likely they will try to kill you.

5. What's the point of checking cameras?

Checking on animals gives you info on who is where, so you can track who's approaching and from which side. You would want to slam the door at some point, right? which one and at which point depends on this information. On the other hand, animals never move while being watched. Short and frequent checkups will ensure their slower progress, while preserving energy at the same time. In other words, that's the most optimal strategy.

6. Why don't I simply close the door?

Because keeping the doors closed consumes too much energy. when the energy drops down to zero - all cameras shut down, lights go out and all doors get opened so you're basically being left without any protection.

7. How to move? Is there something wrong with my keyboard?

Nope. There's nothing wrong with your computer. There are no such controls. You are simply not allowed to leave your seat, not even for toilet.

8. Why didn't you put this game earlier on darkhorrorgames.com?

Because this is not online playable game, like flash or Unity. It requires player to download executable file and install it on their PC. This was not the original idea about dark horror games website, so I am making an exception for the first time. The reason is because I've been contacted by several users asking me to do so.

9. Installation instructions.

a) Left click the DOWNLOAD LINK. (step 10)
b) Save the file 'five-nights-at-freddys-1.exe' at any location you like
c) The file downloads. The file size is 224,527 KB (225 mega bytes) on disk, so it will take some time to download.
c) Go to the location b and double click the executable file.
d) Say 'yes', 'next', 'next', 'start' to whatever you are being asked. Finally, when the installation completes, hit the 'exit' button.
e) The application should create an icon on Desktop, so you can use it to start the game (in full screen by default)
f) If anything goes wrong or in case you have any questions, go back to this page and leave your questions/comments or contact me directly (Dark).
g) Use your headphones. Don't be afraid. Don't panic. Don't scream at night while everybody's sleeping. Don't play it at night, or you'll have nightmares afterwards.

Fear-starved gamers

For a neat twist on the survival horror genre, fear-starved gamers should definitely consider checking out Five Nights at Freddy's, a recent indie release which has seemingly taken the gaming world by storm and which has already spawned a sequel. The game is a fiendishly clever one, with a deceptively simple concept at its core and which is backed up by some wonderful design work that together create a highly memorable experience.

Nightmarish story

The story is a nightmarish take on the movie Night at the Museum and places players in the shoes of Mike Schmidt, a security guard at a pizza joint which just happens to be under threat by the store's malfunctioning animatronic animal mascots, including Freddy Fazbear, Chica the Chicken and Foxy the Pirate Fox. Since a horrific incident referred to only as â€˜the Bite of â€˜87', these rather creepy individuals have only been allowed to roam freely at night and now Schmidt's on the job, he has the unenviable task of surviving their less than friendly attentions.

Gameplay

Gameplay requires players to simply make it through the night without being attacked, with the proceedings played out via a network of security screens which are used to track the progress of the robot animals and impede their movements by blocking doors while turning lights on and off to check on things. However, both of these actions use up limited electrical supplies and once they're gone, it's just a matter of time before Schmidt gets some unwelcome visitors.

Intense atmosphere and brooding visuals

While this might not sound terribly scary, in reality Five Nights at Freddy's is a genuinely unsettling but hugely enjoyable game, thanks to its minimalist approach, intense atmosphere and brooding visuals. The images on the security screens are grainy and distorted, creating a real sense of dread as you struggle to make out just what is going on, while one room only has audio access and which further ramps up the tension. Character movement can for the most part be predicted, allowing players to create a strategy but one moves completely at random which really throws a spanner in even the best laid plans and it's this sense of the unknown that is perhaps the game's strongest point. This isn't a game of full-on action but slow-burning terror where it's the possibility and threat of attack which is most frightening.

Masterpiece of understated design

Visually, the game is a masterpiece of understated design, with an incredibly evocative setting that is all the more unsettling because of its familiarity. Everything is wreathed in shadows with every hint of movement inducing panic in the player and when those animatronic animals lurch towards you from the darkness, it takes a bold player not to flinch in terror. The animals themselves are superbly designed, both welcoming and utterly terrifying in equal measure and they are sure to enter the hall of fame for videogaming villains.

While the gameplay is simple enough, this works to the game's advantage and it is never less than compelling. There is something immeasurably addictive about sitting there, watching those screens and trying to plan for a sudden attack only to find that you've forgotten about a route before realizing that there is something lurking in the corner and it's about to rip your face off. If you think that survival horror has lost its way in recent years and are looking for a bold, fresh experience that delivers terror in spades, then do yourself a favor and check out Five Nights at Freddy's. And for the full experience, don't forget to put the headphones on and turn out the lights.

Blue_Longevity : I don't know how to stop Freddy (I'm only on Night 3), but this is what I do. I check the stage, Pirate Cove, and both hallways. Then check both hallway corner blindspots. Someone said that you need to make sure Freddy doesn't leave the Show Stage because when he's at the corner and you close the door he can still kill you.
