Dead Lab definitely raises a bar in the standards when it comes to first person indie horror games. Dead Lab is a first person shooter, based on motives typical for apocalyptic stories about zombies 'taking over the world' and 'taking control'. It all begins in a relatively well isolated underground laboratory for medical research where doctors experiment with new virus strains. A moment of recklessness releases a virus which then turns people into aggressive animals. Broken mirrors, blood all over the walls, empty dark hallways - they wreak havoc. warning: large file! (90MB)
What is it about
The main hero in this story is a lab guy named 'Sam', who is waking up completely unaware of new circumstances he woke up into. In a brief phone call with another scientist he finds out that he is the only survivor in this part of building. The scientist suggests him to take a flashlight, find a weapon and use the vent system to get outside. Everybody is eager to find out how and why Sam is immune to the infection, because he is their only chance of making a vaccine. On his way out, Sam experiences some very traumatic encounters with rats, giant spiders and of course zombies.
First, Sam has a gun, and later on he gets his hands on a Double Barrel Shotgun. To enter the vent system Sam needs to stack some boxes on top of each other. To move objects you click and hold. To open doors and interact with objects use 'E' key. 'F' key is to tun on/off the flashlight. To play in full screen you need to choose that option from the main menu.
Dead Lab is 3D Unity FPS involving zombies, with fantastic graphics and even better sound effects. This version of the game you are playing now on darkhorrorgames.com is so called web or demo version. It is somewhat shorter then the PC version which needs to be downloaded. Hands down, Dead Lab is one of the most professionally made indie horror games for Unity platform, ever. Map filled with many small details impacted the size of the file which exceeded 90MB, so you can expect it to load a bit longer. The authors of the game are "Salokin Games" - a small US-based indie video game company, which exists since 2010.
At the moment there are several different version accessible on the Internet, because the developer is constantly upgrading the game. This one is 4th and current version. Among other things, achievements are added, and you need to be registered on 'gamejolt' site to use them. This of course is not necessary and you can just click on the 'skip' button in the main menu to continue the game.
Pros & Cons
cons: web version is a bit glitchy and laggy occasionally, right mouse click is not working as expected meaning that moving those boxes is damn hard, pros: excellent graphics, excellent sound, amazing voice acting, good jumpscares, realistic damage, original 3d engine, too short, just a demo

Dead Lab Crazy Review by Yamimash
I really don't know why I used yamimash's review. I guess I was a bit lazy to make my own. Anyway, if you ignore his crazy reactions and comments you can see the kind of the atmosphere which dominates this game.

serialzero : Ahhh, I see. That's awesome. I love it when games add interesting extras like that. When I played Organ Trail: Director's Cut during October, they replaced the zombie bear boss with Frankenstein's monster, and added a bunch of other Halloween-themed changes. XD
Vincent Bishop FNAF : @serialzero 'cause i played it in December.
serialzero : LOL, really? I saw random pumpkins lying around that I could shoot. There's an achievement for getting all of them on Game Jolt, I believe. I wonder why you had Santa hats show up in your run...?
Vincent Bishop FNAF : @seialzero Pumpkin?I saw zombies wearing Santa hat.
serialzero : Did anybody get all the pumpkins? Does anything happen after you shoot them all?
Vincent Bishop FNAF : Dark I found another game which you should submit. It's Slender man must die the forest.
Vincent Bishop FNAF : What is wrong with the add block plus?Everything messed up.
Vincent Bishop FNAF : 5 out of 5.
serialzero : I like this one. It's got really good voice acting, which is sadly rare in a lot of indie games. The enemies didn't seem all that threatening, but overall the game had a really good setup with creative environments. 4 stars!
